The proposal for a solo exhibition in Istanbul gave me the chance to speak about political topics, because it was soon clear to me that my job as an artist in a foreign land was kind of diplomatic. I felt invested in a role of ambassador of my culture. Given these trivial conditions I had surprising outcomes of a job lasted about three months: despite fact I am an internationalist spirit, I feared that the preconceived cultural ...differences and geographical distances could be prevalent in my work, but what emerges is a message of reconciliation of differences and cancellation of the distances.

The three series of paintings making up this work treat issues known to any observing person dwell anywhere in the world.

With the first series I show you the "containers" within which you can see what you want: at the beginning an open hand, in the horizontal position, to symbolize the welcome, then I tell you where I come from, showing you a crown of thorns that speaks of ideas imposed through symbols of death, then there is a shopping cart ... what's missing in your fridge? A border, a barbed wire, an observation tower .. those who do not have to live with the idea of imprisonment? Perhaps better not to think about do not you think? No brain no pain!

With the second set I recommend you a break because here are the "symbols" talking, good and evil, the nature of the ancestral and cultural superstructures are universal concepts.

Finally there are only "fragments", snapshots of everyday life, pieces of human habits landscape characteristics, we all know no matter where we were born and raised and that we find always the same no matter where we go.

İstanbul'da kişisel sergi yapma teklifi bana siyasi konular hakkında konuşma şansı verdi çünkü yabancı bir ülkede sanatçı olarak bulunmanın diplomatik bir tarafı olduğu açıktı. Kendime bir kültür ateşeliği rolü yüklediğimi hissettim. Bu koşullar göz önüne alındığında yaklaşık üç ay süren bu işin şaşırtıcı sonuçları oldu. Enternasyonalist bir ruhum olduğu gerçeğine rağmen kültürel farklardan doğan önyargıların ve ülkeler arasındaki mesafenin işlerimde belirgin olmasından endişe duydum ancak ortaya çıkan mesaj farklılıkların uzlaşması ve mesafelerin reddi oldu.

Bu sergiyi oluşturan üç seri, dünyanın neresinde yaşarsa yaşasın herkesin gözlemlediği konuları işliyor.

İlk seride size ne görmek isterseniz içinde onu gösteren "kaplar"ı sunuyorum: Başlangıçta "hoşgeldiniz"i simgeleyen yatay duran açık bir el; daha sonra ölümün sembolleriyle dayatılan fikirlerlerden bahseden dikenli bir taç göstererek size nereli olduğumu söylüyorum. Daha sonra bir alışveriş arabası...Buzdolabınızda ne eksik? Bir sınır, bir dikenli tel, bir gözetleme kulesi... Bunlar hapsolmuş fikriyle yaşamak istemeyenler için mi? Belki de hiç düşünmemek daha iyidir, ne düşünüyorsunuz? Beyin yok, acı da yok!

İkinci seride biraz durmanızı tavsiye ederim çünkü şimdi "semboller" konuşuyor, iyi ve kötü, atadan kalmanın doğası ve kültürel üstyapılar evrensel kavramlardır.

Son olarak sadece "parçalar" vardır, günlük hayatın anlık görüntüleri, insan alışkanlıkları manzarasından karakteristik parçalar, hepimiz biliyoruz ki nerede doğup büyürsek büyüyelim, nereye gidersek gidelim hep aynısını bulacağız.

La proposta di una mostra personale ad Istanbul mi ha dato l'occasione di confrontarmi con tematiche di ordine politico perché mi è sembrato subito chiaro che il mio compito di artista in terra straniera era di tipo diplomatico, mi sono sentito investito di un ruolo di rappresentante della mia cultura specifica. Date queste banali premesse risultano sorprendenti gli esiti di un lavoro durato all'incirca tre mesi: infatti malgrado io sia uno spirito internazionalista, temevo che le preconcette differenze e le distanze culturali e geografiche potessero risultare prevalenti nel mio lavoro; invece ciò che emerge è un messaggio di conciliazione delle differenze e di annullamento delle distanze. Le tre serie di dipinti di cui si compone questo lavoro trattano tutte dei temi noti a qualsiasi persona si soffermi ad osservarli in qualsiasi parte del mondo.
Con la prima serie vi mostro dei "contenitori" all'interno dei quali potete vedere ciò che volete: all'inizi una mano aperta, in posizione orizzontale, a simboleggiare l'accoglienza, poi, subito dopo vi dico da dove vengo mostrandovi una corona di spine che parla della idee imposte attraverso i simboli di morte, poi c'è un carrello della spesa… cosa manca nel vostro frigorifero? Un confine, un filo spinato, una torretta di osservazione.. chi non deve convivere con l'idea della prigionia? Meglio forse non pensarci non credete? No brain no pain!

Con la seconda serie vi consiglio una pausa perché qui sono i "simboli" a parlare, il bene e il male, la natura ancestrale e le sovrastrutture culturali sono nozioni universali.

In ultimo non rimangono che "frammenti", istantanee di vita quotidiana, pezzi di abitudini paesaggi dalle caratteristiche umane, che tutti conosciamo in qualsiasi posto siamo nati e cresciuti e che ritroviamo sempre uguali in qualsiasi posto andiamo da grandi.
