"Arriving at each new city, the traveler finds again a past of his that he did not know he had: the foreignness of what you no longer are or no longer possess lies in wait for you in foreign, unpossessed places."

Alessandro Vignali and Andrea De Angeli (Negro): two artists who, through the alphabeth of the colors, put on stage a new poetic of the city.
Alessandro Vignali, roman painter who have been working in Umbria for years in his house in Alviano, he experiences the creation through immersion: diving in his own vision, moving inside it, kneading it, articulating and making it appear on the canvas through the material use of the color, visualizing at the same time infinite points of view and diverse prospectives on one surface. The creative effort of the artist aims at making up ideal cities in which the only materials and laws that govern people's life are the colors.
Houses, bridges, flying machines, urban areas, stratifications of lives: swirling and dizzy prospectives catch the audience's sight, sucking it into the canvas through an interrupted twitch of apertures and shutdowns. The city reflects his inhabitants, the city is a space constantly to be reinvented as an extension of human needs and desires. Any civilization builds its own living spaces with rules that come after the existing social and political structure, aiming at balancing the cohabitation and removing everything that might be dentrimental to such common stability.
Vignali, living his experience entirely, with no filters, accepting its darkest side, builts on canvas unconventional worlds, the only ones able to support of the feeble human truth.
Vignali's cities are the propagation of the human character, of the complexities and contraddictions of its: the architecture abides by the color and mood rules, the evil is accepted and revised as well as the good, lights and shadows live together never fading into night and day. There is no dawn, no dusk in the Vignali's cities but only days of darkness.
The journey goes on along with Andrea De Angelis (Negro), artist and architect from Terni. The big size paintings stand out the spectator like remains of gaze, of amputated memories. Suspended atmospheres populated by huge and empty architectures: a building corner, slices of sky, roads jammed with dumb traffic, a deep silence runs over the artist canvas: there is still lots of space to figure out the ashes of the urban memories.
Negro's mind floats through memories of details which take life on canvas, widening and building new realms which stand between the already-lived life and a new potential one to be reinvented. The suspended atmospheres let the audience's imagination live inside these painted places, keep writing the urban tale of the artist.
What shakes you is the single sound which any painting seems to communicate to the human hears: a single sound coming out neatly from a wide plain of silence: the wind whistling through the empty windows of a blue building, the roar of the water produced by a lonesome diver, the rattle of a basket frame, the extended horn sound of a urban traffic's stream, the air blast from a truck running fast on a deserted mountain road, the feeble and unimaginable sound of an unidentified object fading into a silent urban landscape. Who are the inhabitants of these places? Where are all the men? Is what you see what is left of their existance? Have the objects replaced the men? Nonsense, lapse of memory.

The proposal for a solo exhibition in Istanbul gave me the chance to speak about political topics, because it was soon clear to me that my job as an artist in a foreign land was kind of diplomatic. I felt invested in a role of ambassador of my culture. Given these trivial conditions I had surprising outcomes of a job lasted about three months: despite fact I am an internationalist spirit, I feared that the preconceived cultural ...differences and geographical
